5 Ways To Enjoy The Air Conditioning At Summer Theme Parks

Summer is one of the most popular times for many families to visit theme parks. Unfortunately, it's often also the hottest time of year at those parks. How can you beat the heat while still spending as much time in the park as possible? Here are five ways to enjoy the air conditioning without retreating to your hotel room.

1. Make Dining Reservations

Sitting down in an air-conditioned restaurant for an hour or more is the best way to cool off and refresh. Many fast-casual theme park dining options are outdoors under the shade. But for a fully air-conditioned experience, you often want a restaurant that allows reservations. In addition, reservations let you secure a table during the hottest part of the day.

2. Learn Line Placement

Every ride in the park has a line, but not every line is the same. Many have you standing outside in the sun, but some snake through indoor spaces. Schedule rides with outdoor lines for early and later in the day and then hit the cooler lines during the hottest part of the day to beat the heat.

3. Look for Exhibits

Want to rest in a cool, indoor space? Pay attention to stationary exhibits and displays. These are often slower and less crowded, feature at least some seating, and let you hang out for as long as you want. For instance, Disneyland's Sorcerer's Workshop and Animation Station are hidden gems with interactive activities for the whole family and plenty of cool spots to sit.

4. Skip the Line

Digital queues allow today's visitors to skip the process of standing in line as much as possible. Take advantage of these tools to avoid queuing in the hottest lines during peak temperatures. Rather than focusing on reserving times for the longest lines, skip the ones that are outdoors and without shade or cooling stations.

5. Take In a Show

Shows are an underrated part of theme parks as rides tend to get the most attention. But some shows not only entertain the little ones but also let you sit down in the air-conditioned theater for 20 minutes, 30 minutes, or more. Find out how early you can arrive so you can relax and cool down for even longer.
